Authentic timeless design with painted brick and timber elements to new build home in rural landscape by McNulty Smyth Associates

Birch House, Meath

Birch House is a new-build residence set within the rural Meath landscape, designed in collaboration with the acclaimed Minnie Peters Interior Design. We’ve worked closely with Miriam over many years, and this project reflects that shared approach — calm, detailed and deeply considered.

The mature birch trees on the site became both backdrop and anchor, shaping the orientation and grounding the house in its setting. Raw, natural materials form the core palette: weathered timber, natural slate and painted brick combine to create a quietly timeless character that settles naturally into the landscape.

Fine architectural detailing is carried throughout — from the crafted joinery and expressive bay and dormer windows to the covered carport that completes the composition. Inside, the interiors draw on soft textures and layered natural finishes, a hallmark of Minnie Peters’ work, complementing the architecture with a warm, understated richness.

Birch House is a rural residence with a restrained elegance, shaped by material honesty, strong proportions and a thoughtful response to the landscape.
